Maturity Assessment

Why AI pilots keep stalling in a corner of the organization

AI initiatives often lead to a demo, applause, and then nothing — an island of two enthusiasts. That's not a technology problem but a leadership and operating-model problem: new technology laid over an unchanged structure. Workforce planning and AI strategy sit in different meetings, and the board and management disagree on pace without a shared picture of execution capacity. Most organizations, meanwhile, only know the tip of the iceberg: the chat window.

1

Score per dimension

Seven dimensions with supporting evidence, and a sequence that starts with the fundamental three.

2

Two scenarios

Light: IT architecture and processes first. Extended: then data management and the data foundation.

3

Below the chat window

The iceberg module shows what's possible in terms of agents, chains, decision support, monitoring, and coordination.

5 levelsFrom baseline through foundation and activation to insight and intelligence.
7 dimensionsThree fundamental: organization, IT infrastructure, data management. Four dependent: ethics, privacy & security, people & skills, performance management.
2 scenariosLight and extended, layered according to the measured level.
1 time per yearRemeasurement to track whether technology and level have shifted.

What it delivers

The maturity assessment is a tool: a plotting round per dimension with level descriptions and a spread view, with a sub-score for data management per process chain. The output is a score per dimension with supporting evidence, a sequence to follow based on the fundamentals-first rule, and two scenarios. The iceberg module shows, per organizational context, what's possible below the chat window, presented as a knowledge series with examples. The board-management block makes the pace conversation concrete: where the organization stands, what's achievable in twelve months, and what going faster costs. Structured modules for operating model, decision-making, and governance — decision inventory and agent rules — are part of the tool; the heavier design components run through route 2 or 3.

How it works

Intake

Start of the assessment.

Plotting round

Seven dimensions, multiple participants, with a spread view and process-chain sub-scores for data management.

Report

Score per dimension, scenarios and sequence, with decision inventory and agent rules as follow-up modules.

Remeasurement

Repeat annually to see whether technology and level have shifted.

What this explicitly is not

  • Not a ready-made AI strategy The tool measures and structures; designing the operating model itself is a route 2/3 component.
  • Not a proven track record There are no completed engagements to point to; the tool structures, it doesn't prove results.
  • Not a standalone instrument The assessment belongs together with the ftetoai work scan: maturity tells you if you're ready, the work scan tells you which tasks and how many FTEs.

Three outcomes

Every report ends in three routes. You choose; we deliver the analysis, not the engagement.

1

Do it yourself

Route 1 — do it yourself: a roadmap per dimension with the fundamentals first, and pilot rules that establish in advance what must be shown, what happens if it isn't, and what scaling up requires.

2

Partly guided

Route 2 — partly guided: a partner for operating-model redesign and governance setup, while the assessment and records stay in the tool.

3

Outsource it

Route 3 — outsource: a full human+machine engagement with the partner, with the assessment as the baseline measurement.

The next step

The bridge to the work scan

The maturity assessment tells you if you're ready; the ftetoai work scan tells you which tasks and how many FTEs. The two assessments inform each other in both directions and belong together as a fixed bundle.

We're building the datasets the analysis will rest on. Let us know you're following along, and you'll hear from us as soon as the first assessments open.
